Snowmobiles  –  LOSV  –  Light Over Snow Vehicles  –  MERX NPP  –  Feb 2009 LOSV  ( Light Over-Snow Vehicles ) – CF  Military Snowmobiles Multiple  MERX  LOSV NPPs (Notices of  Proposed Procurement) DND has been issuing multiple NPPs for Canadian Forces snowmobiles as a series of small procurements. In NATO / CF parlance, these snomobiles – primarily Bombardier Skandic SWTs and similar Ski-doos – are called Light Over-Snow Vehicles or LOSVs. The snowmobiles are among the only practical means of offroad transport in much of rural Canada during the winter months, especially for Rangers operating over sea-ice.
